BLS Pre-health Professions Advising Service
Applying to a health professional or graduate program (e.g., medicine, physician assistant, physical therapy, nursing, pharmacy, genetic counseling, or doctorate of clinical laboratory sciences) upon completion of your degree or certificate from the Biomedical Laboratory Sciences (BLS) department can be highly competitive, complicated, and stressful. The BLS Pre-health Professions Advising Service (BLS-PPAS) supports current BLS students and recent graduates who are exploring, planning, or in process of applying to a health professional or graduate program at GW or any other university.
The BLS-PPAS provides:
- Individual consultations regarding ways to enhance one's competitiveness to apply to a health professional or graduate program
- Information sessions on health professional programs, including their application processes
- Assistance in preparing an application to a health professional or graduate program, including review and editing of personal statements and essays
- Webinars on healthcare-related topics (e.g., the Affordable Care Act, unconscious/implicit bias, public health)
- Individual consultations regarding timing and re-takes of health professional or graduate program entrance exams (e.g., MCAT, GRE)
- Practice interviewing sessions with faculty experienced in health professional or graduate program admissions.
